Requirements for entry to Bolivia of travelers from abroad, according to resoluciÃģn Ministerial N°0001, 27 of April de 2022.

In compliance with Ministerial Resolution N°0001, 27 of April 2022, the epidemiological surveillance measures for the entry of travelers coming from abroad stablished in Article 3 of Supreme Decree 4481, of March 31, 2021, modified by Supreme Decree N°4605, of 27 of October 2021, since 29 of April 2022, for entry into Bolivia through the different access routes to the country, at least one of the following requirements is mandatory:

  1. Certificate of vaccination against COVID-19 in physical or digital format (complete) with at least 14 days before to the date of entry into the country, or
  2. Negative RT-PCR test for persons older than 5 years:
    a. By air, up to seventy-two (72) hours before boarding in the country of origin;
    b. By land, river or lake, until seventy-two (72) hours before entry into the Plurinational State of Bolivia; or
  3. Certified nasal antigen test for those over five years of age:
    a.
    By air, up to forty-eight (48) hours before boarding in the country of origin;
    b. By land, river or lake, up to forty-eight (48) hours before entering the Plurinational State of Bolivia.

During the stay in Bolivia, the biosecurity measures established in the Plurinational State of Bolivia are mandatory.

Requirements for entry to Bolivia of travelers from abroad, according to Supreme Decree No. 4481

ARTICLE 3.- (EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SURVEILLANCE MEASURES FOR THE ENTRY OF TRAVELERS FROM ABROAD). For travelers from abroad to the Plurinational State of Bolivia, the following measures are mandatory:

a) Certified negative RT-PCR test for people over five (5) year of age.

1. Up to seventy-two (72) hours before boarding in the country of origin, for nationals or foreigners coming from outside the country by airway;

2. Up to seventy-two (72) hours before entering the Plurinational State of Bolivia for nationals or foreigners, who enter the national territory by land, river or lacustrine.

b) Isolation for at least ten (10) days after entering the bolivian territory that will be controlled and monitored according to current regulations of the Ministry of Health and Sports;

c) Presentation of an affidavit of the place of stay in the territory Bolivian;

d) Take the sample for the RT-PCR test on the seventh day of insulation, the cost of which must be covered by the passenger; comply with the correspondent protocol in case the result is positive.

e) Before entering Bolivian territory, foreign passengers who don’t have permanent residence in Bolivia must have health insurance with coverage for COVID-19, that will cover the expenses for the treatment.

ARTICLE 4.- (EXCEPTIONS).

VI. People belonging to diplomatic missions, special missions, international organizations, specialists and technicians in different areas, are exempted from the application of subsection b) of Article 3 of this Supreme Decree, having to perform the RT-PCR test on the seventh day of their stay.

ARTICLE 5.- (ISOLATION AND CASE MANAGEMENT). The isolation established in subsection b) of Article 3 of this Supreme Decree shall be domiciliary; Except when a suspected case or probable case of COVID-19 is identified at the point of entry, which will be subject to the provisions of the Ministry of Health and Sports.

Restriction of flights from Europe extended Supreme Decree No. 4473

The restriction of entry to Bolivia for flights from Europe continues until May 31, 2021.

With the exception of the following flights:

  1. Medical evacuation;
  2. Repatriation of nationals;
  3. Relief flights;
  4. Humanitarian aid;
  5. Cargo;
  6. Special flights, including solidarity flights.

Passengers from Europe on the flights indicated in the previous paragraph must comply with the following biosecurity standards and measures:

  1. Negative RT-PCR or Antigenic test for entry into the country, valid for ten (10) days prior to the scheduled date of entry.
  2. Isolation for fourteen (14) days after entry;
  3. Presentation of an affidavit of the place of stay in Bolivian territory

With the exception of the following flights:

Passengers from Europe on the flights indicated in the previous paragraph must comply with the following biosecurity standards and measures:

  1. Bolivians and foreigners residing in Bolivia who enter the country, must comply with the previous paragraph;
  2. Foreigners who do not have residence in Bolivia may not temporarily enter the territory of the Plurinational State of Bolivia.

Passengers from Europe on the flights indicated in the previous paragraph must comply with the following biosecurity standards and measures:

New Protocol for the Entry to the Territory of the Plurinational State of Bolivia – Post Confinement Stage of COVID-19

Bolivian and foreign citizens who enter Bolivia, by air, land, river or lake, must comply with the following requirements and biosafety measures to contain the transmission of the virus:

  • Have a Covid-19 RT-PCR certificate with a negative result, valid prior to the scheduled date of admission of:
    • three (3) days for citizens from neighboring countries;
    • seven (7) days for citizens from South America, Central America and the Caribbean;
    • ten (10) days for citizens from North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania).
  • Minors from 12 years of age must have the certificate.
  • Fill out the Entry Form at the following link: https://www.rree.gob.bo/ingresobolivia/Registro.aspx
  • Hand washing and disinfection during transit until arrival at the destination city.
  • Physical distancing, during the entire transit until arrival at the destination city.
  • Use of Personal Protection Elements. Permanent use of masks and use of disinfectant alcohol (70%) during the trip until arrival at the destination city.

Travel requirements for Bolivia

In reference to travel requirements for Bolivia, the Bolivian Consulate’s visa requirement has been removed from the certificate of proof of analysis (PCR) specific to Covid-19. However, it should be noted that the PCR still needs to be presented with a negative result.

Supreme Decree No 4327 of 7 September 2020

SINGLE FINAL PROVISION.-

I. Paragraphs III and IV of Article 5 of Supreme Decree No. 4314, of 27 August 2020, are amended as follows

“III. Bolivians, foreign residents in Bolivia, foreigners, persons belonging to diplomatic missions, special missions, international organisations, specialists and technicians in different areas, who enter the national territory by air must present at the migration control points, in addition to the formal entry requirements, the certification of the specific test of analysis (PCR) for COVID-19 with a negative result, with a validity of no more than seven (7) days to the programmed date of entry.
