A Bolivian passport is valid for six years, non-extendable. In case of expiration, loss, theft or damage, a new passport must be requested.

The passport can be renewed up to 6 months before the expiration date.

The steps for passport renewal are:

First:

Request the renewal of the passport to the mail: boliviaconsularlahaya@gmail.com, attaching:

– A scanned copy or good quality photograph of the passport data page for verification of the information in the migration system and SEGIP.

– Indicate if the passport has expired or is about to expire physically. In case of loss or theft, you must file a police report.

– Copy of your valid identity card, as an alternative is the birth certificate valid for three months prior to the appointment or it can be issued at the Consular Section, prior cancellation of the cost.

Second:

Once the information has been verified an appointment is assigned for the data capture in person at the Consular Section.

On the day of the appointment the interested person must bring the following requirements:

  1. Expired passport (original)
  2. Valid Identity Card (original) or Birth Certificate, as applicable.
  3. Proof of payment for the cost of the passport*.

Third:

Once the passport arrives at the Consulate (about 3 to 4 weeks after data capture) the interested person must pick up the document by presenting the old passport.

* The Consular Section will send you the cost and the account to which the deposit must be made prior to your appointment.
